The Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board is proud to present the Cultural Diversity Festival.

The Diversity Festival recognises and celebrates the distinct cultural diversity and vibrancy of the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board community and features different activities, entertainment, food and fashion.

The Diversity Festival is funded by the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board with support from local businesses and organisations.

Types of sponsors we would like to sponsor our event –

  • Preferably businesses and organisations that are based in the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board area. (If not based in the local board area, than a strong involvement or association with its people and communities.)
  • Businesses and/or organisations that are proud to work in the local board area.
  • Businesses and/or organisations that are proud to be culturally diverse.
  • Businesses and/or organisations that recognise culturally diversity as a strength of the local board area.
  • Businesses and/or organisations that want the culturally diverse communities of the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board to prosper.

The Diversity Festival will attract a young, diverse crowd of local people from the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board area. The local board area is home to 75,660 people and consists of the suburbs of Otara, East Tamaki, Papatoetoe. These suburbs are ethnically diverse with large Pacific (46%) and Asian (31%) communities (Indian making 22% of the Asian sub-group), this is followed by European and Maori which together make up a third of the local board’s population.   • The 30 second promotional advertisement is delivered by the MC who will read aloud a description of the sponsor. It will describe who the person/sponsor is, ethnicity? Do they/staff live in the local board area? Why are they sponsoring the Cultural Diversity Festival? Location of business/organisation? How to contact them?
  • Best dressed male, best dressed female, crowd favourite performance, Spirit award (these awards are subject to change). For example: “The best dressed male award is proudly presented by XXXX. The winner is XXXX.”
  • Four media releases planned to promote the event with English language, Pacific language and Asian language media.
